A friend of mine was asking, what is てへぺろ(・ω<) (tehepero)? Pretty much, it’s kinda popular cutesy act by Japanese idols as well as internet meme. For girls. Because, everything girls do are cute. One of the idols that practically popularized the act was Hikasa Youko (Akiyama Mio of K-on) in various of her live performances regarding K-on and such.
Now, for the explanantion. てへぺろ(・ω<) has three distinctive subjects in it. “てへ”, “ぺろ” and “(・ω<)”. “てへ” (tehe) is nothing new but might be alien for non-anime fans. Usually when an anime character doing silly things or clumsy acts, a simple apology or a way to counter the embarrassing moment by bowing the head a bit with a hand at the back while smiling and saying, “てへ” (tehe). Again, for girls. Unless a cat can talk, it may use this as well since a cat is a cute being automatically. On the internet, the variations are like tehehehe or teehee. On to the next one, “ぺろ” (pero) is for the tongue act. In Japanese, “ぺろぺろ” (peropero) means lick. Either a cat licks itself on the groin or a person licks an ice cream, that’s peropero for you. The final one “(・ω<)” is self-explanatory. Not necessarily a requirement to which eye but as long as one of the eyes closed during the act.
I guess from these videos you could understand what does てへぺろ(・ω<) mean. Now, onto some anime images.
