Seldom for me to do anime previews or reviews actually. Tho, once in a while, why not? Okay, there’s quite a number of interesting anime for this season. I am not really sure which should I go first. I think I just go randomly select anything and give several inputs for it. Now, we start with…
Something that I’ve getting to know about it already months ago. Been looking at the promotion of the anime that started as galge or something from Comp Ace, Dengeki magazine and others. The character shown like in figure above did attract me to get to know more about it. She looks cute in those magazine. So how does the anime fare? The quality of the animation is quite good. Erika is fine as well and her seiyuu is Kanda Rie. Quite a while haven’t see her around since that Al Azif of Demonbane. Also, Kouhei, the main character is voiced by Daisuke Ono. Man, he always getting this kind of character roles. The story is like the usual anime story from gale/eroge/visual novel. A boy, Kouhei, transfered to a boarding school (Christian school for this one) and greeted by a girl (in this case, Erika). Then, he got to know more people and places in his new place. Suddenly he encountered an incident in a church. Vampire. Yeah, the series’ theme. The story is somewhat similar to the first eroge that I play back in 1998. So, I guess I will skip from watching this anime weekly. At least, watching them all after the season ends. I can already see the ending…
The World God Only Knows
Kinda related with my last phrase in the last paragraph. The story involving a boy who is known to be a God of galge/eroge/visual novels. How? He manages to ‘capture’ every 2D girls on every games that he played on his PFP (somewhat similar with PSP but with retractable keyboard). So this boy, Keima, could already see the ending of the situation of the game he plays. Then he received a text to ‘capture’ some girls he gladly accepted the challenge without knowing that it came from a demon which eventually became a contract. With the help of Elsee (Elci? Elchee? Elcia? whatever… or was it he actually helps her for the contract?), he does have to capture the spirit that resides in the girls by making them fall in love with him (despite him despises real girl or 3D). His catchphrase simply became a nice meme which is “Mietazo… ending ga” (literally means, I can see the ending already) along with his infamous gesture. Tho the problem is that after he finishes his mission, the said girl will forget her memories about him (a little bit sad for him, eh?). Keima is voiced by Shimono Hiro who I got to know from Mitsudomoe as Yabecchi and from Kannagi as Jin. Other anime in this season that he got the char roles are Yosuga no Sora (as Haru) and Tantei Opera Milky Holmes (as Rat). The demon girl, Elsee (stop asking me whether if the spelling is correct), is voiced by Itou Kanae (Saten of Railgun). Other prominent seiyuu involving in series are Taketatsu Ayana (Azunyan of K-On!) and Hanazawa Kana (Tenshi of Angel Beats!). This is the must watch anime for me. Can’t wait for the next episode.
Sora no Otoshimono Forte
The second season of the flying panties anime of Sora no Otoshimono (or simply call it as Soraoto). Like what I said earlier, this is not something I would like to watch. I don’t know. I do like the characters but I don’t really feel the fun when watching it. Some people might find this interesting but not my cup of tea. The story is revolve around this Tomoki (Hoshi Souichiro) guy who getting a godsend angel called Ikaros (Hayami Saori). Hoshi Souichiro did quite a number of voice-casting including Keiichi (Higurashi series), Kira Yamato (Gundam Seed) and Kei (Onegai Teacher). Hayami Saori is a growing seiyuu also with prominent characters this season such as Miho (Bakuman), Yuuno (MM!) and Ayase (Oreimo). I couldn’t see the end of this series but might only watch it after the season ends… but wait, I haven’t finish watch that first season at all.
Otome Youkai Zakuro
From a shoujo manga. Of course the drawing is more on shoujo manga style. A story where human and youkai (some sort of spirit) live along together. The girls of youkai, called as younin, fought off the bad youkai with some flashy moves and sing traditional songs. The main character, Kei, is paired with one of the younin girls, Zakuro. The seiyuu of Kei, Sakurai Takahiro, is none other than that Suzaku of Code Geass. Zakuro is voiced by Nakahara Mai which I think quite rare to have her around as one of the main characters. Other seiyuu involving in this series are Toyosaki Aki (Yui of K-On!), Hanazawa Kana, Iguchi Yuka (Index of Toaru Majutsu no Index) and Horie Yui (who the hell don’t know Hocchan?). Will I watch this series? Might be. See how the story goes.
Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai
I read the novel first (of course translated). A fun novel that turned into manga and now, anime. Dubbed Oreimo, this anime is about a brother, Kyousuke (Nakamura Yuuichi), that has somewhat cold relationship with his sister, Kirino (Taketatsu Ayana). At a point that Kirino seems to be despise her brother so much until one day Kyousuke found out about her sister personal secret of playing galge/eroge/visual novel. Yup, a fujoshi. But ironically, she likes games that has incestuous theme. She has a lot of games. Heck, even she has a lot of collective items from a single series. Somewhat a creepy but lovely otaku. How did she got all the money to buy those? She became a model for some magazine. Secretly of course. So, after her brother found out her secrets, she appointed her brother as her consultant in her otaku-ish problems. Of course that this anime is the highlight of this season which makes me want to watch it so much. Not forgetting the line-up of several great seiyuu like Nakamura Yuuichi (Alto of Macross Frontier), Taketatsu Ayana, Hanazawa Kana, Hayami Saori, Satou Satomi (Ritsu of K-On!) and Tamura Yukari (same as Hocchan, who the hell don’t know Yukarin?).
Shinryaku! Ika Musume
‘Wtf is this’ is the first words I muttered when I watched that scene. Haha, this is a fun anime to watch. So, what’s the story about? Well, this one squid-girl got angered by humans who dominated the world as well as the sea so that she wants to take revenge by conquering the humans starting from a small hut that situated nearby the beach where she landed as invasion base. That hut is actually a beach restaurant of 3 siblings there. Rather than subjugating the humans, it’s more like she’s being force to work there as her tentacles being useful to bring out the many dishes to the visitors. Ika-chan is voiced by Kanemoto Hisako or her other name, Aikawa Juri (Sorami of Sora no Woto). Fujimura Ayumi (Misaki of Maid-sama) as Eiko and also Tanaka Rie as Chizuru-nee (again, who the hell don’t know about Tanaka Rie?). Nakamura Yuuichi and Itou Kanae make another appearance in this anime as well. Must watch.
This is a rather popular series. Because a lot of people like the manga and it’s from that author of the famous Death Note. The story goes like this one school boy, Mashiro (Abe Atsushi), who fairly understands how the cycle of the world functioning and was once has an ambition to become a mangaka. When I said ‘the cycle of the world’, it means that we study several years in school and then college, get good grades, get a job, getting married and form a family until death, just like ordinary people live. He developed a crush on a girl, Miho (Hayami Saori), but didn’t have the guts to tell her his feeling. One day a classmate of him, Takagi (Hino Satoshi), asked him to get on the journey of becoming the greatest mangaka where he create the scripts while Mashiro will be the artist. Mashiro wasn’t that willing to do it ever since his uncle, who is also his role model, died because of overwork due to his job as mangaka. However, as pushy as Takagi would be to ensure his vision will be come true, he brought Mashiro over to Miho’s house which surprised him very much. Another surprise to Mashiro is that Miho actually wanting to be a seiyuu which then led to a promise between them through Mashiro proposal of marriage to Miho when she would be the seiyuu of the main character for their future manga. Abe Atsushi most prominent role he did was Touma in Toaru Majutsu no Index series. Not forgetting Kosuda of B Gata H Kei. I have mixed feeling with this anime. The story is good but I seldom to like a long ass series that much. I guess I might only watch it when the anime ends or perhaps after 4-5 episodes.
Hyakka Rouran Samurai Girls
It’s a story that… the current Japan is actually still… Meiji period.. or something like that. Well, at the start of the episode. it shows some awesome girls slaying the mighty bombers of United States (presumably) with swords and shits to protect their motherland. So Japan still a traditional country and imposes strict Meiji rules here and there since Tokugawa shogunate still exists. Yeah, fucked up story and since the creator is the same as that boobielicious Queen’s Blade, you can expect the same with this one. I never liked this kind of character designs where the girls are extremely sexy and nudes (the TV censored version just cleverly covered their private parts with drops of ink).Though, Sanada Yukimura (Kugimiya Rie) is cute despite in real Japan chronicle, she is not a girl (yes, Japan is fucked up with stories like this). The main character, a guy, Yagyuu Muneakira is voiced by Hirakawa Daisuke who previously voice casted that famous character, Makoto of School Days.Yagyuu Jubei, as girl in this series, is voiced by Yuuki Aoi who also in this season playing a role as Tatsuno of Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru. Other well-known seiyuus are Toyosaki Aki (as Naoe), Koshimizu Ami (as Charles D’artagnan), Kotobuki Minako (as Tokugawa Sen) and Kobayashi Yu (as Gotou Matabe). Naaah, not gonna follow this anime. Maybe if I am really that bored, I might watch is after the anime ended.
Anime adaptation of Iron Man movie. Tony Stark came to Japan as he was going to retire as an Iron Man and let the new design of the Iron Man for production series. Not going to elaborate more since the first episode didn’t impress me much. I am not gonna watch this anime at all. The only seiyuu that I came to recognize is Itou Shizuka (Morishima Haruka of Amagami SS).
This is the shit. This is an anime about a guy, Tarou, having the most shittiest disease that he himself wanted to be cured. He loves being tortured and punished. A masochist at its best. What’s more the seiyuu is that infamous Jun Fukuyama. How the heck the cool voice of Zero/Lelouch in Code Geass became like this? lol I can’t stop laughing to this one. Well, I knew he was the seiyuu of that shit-head Suga-kun in Saki Mahjong anime but this is the shiz yo! To cure his problem, he asked some helps from Volunteer Club at the school which is led by a senpai, Isurugi Mio (Taketatsu Ayana). His best friend, Tatsukichi (Satou Rina) also has a little secret who loves to crossdress (and became awesome in episode 2). Tarou’s disease was actually happened when he was being hit ultimately by Yuuno (Hayami Saori) previously. It’s due to Yuuno’s problem who is afraid of men (androphobic). Yuuno is lovely despite her oppai tends to be a little bit too big to my taste. The seiyuu list is awesome! Kana Asumi (Yunocchi of Hidamari Sketch), Tanaka Rie, Ohara Sayaka (Yuuko of XXXholic), Yahagi Sayuri (Izumi of Hayate no Gotoku) and Tomokazu Sugita (Kyon of Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu). A must watch and I really recommend this anime to those who love comedy.
Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt
It’s like Power Puff Girls on steroids. Gainax really have something whenever it comes to making an anime it seemed. So in this.. what was the town name… ah whatever, there’s a church-like building organized by a pastor guy of African-American with afro hair who monitored two angels (supposed to be), Panty (Ogasawara Arisa) and Stocking (Ise Mariya). The angels were tasked to exterminate ghosts who making havoc in the city. Well, they’re angels but they’re actually being kicked out from heaven because of their bad behaviours. Panty loves to have sex (and doing it everyday with a lot of random people). Stocking is a selfish one who only loves to eat sweet things. Most of the time, it’s just like that PPG series. The only time they look just like normal Japanese anime was during the transformation (where Panty strips her panties and turns it into a gun while Stocking transforms her long sock into a sword). Am I watching this? Yes, I guess. A different kind of anime once in a while.
Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru
A story about maid cafe and the maids. This one particular maid, Hotori (Omigawa Chiaki), looks pretty much interesting to me. She works at the maid cafe after school despite the school doesn’t allow its students to do part-time jobs. A classmate of hers, Hiroyuki (Irino Miyu), has a crush on her and always going to the maid cafe. While it is a maid cafe but it doesn’t look like one much since the only thing that made it look like it was the waitresses dress as one. The important fact that make this anime to be interesting is that, it is made by Shaft and directed by Shinbo (Bakemonogatari, Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Hidamari Sketch). But the thing that made this uninteresting is Omigawa Chiaki. Her voice is unique but, for the love of God, there’s not a single role that she got is truly suitable. Almost irritating when she tries to shout. I am not really sure whether I will continue to watch this or not.
Tantei Opera Milky Holmes
Detective story… naaaah. A bunch of girls who each of them got powers called ‘Toys’. Ever since I saw their advertisements on Comp Ace, I had a thought that this might be an interesting one. It turned out to be suck. Unless someone got to convinced me to watch the next episodes, I am ditching this. I am not even bothered to talk about the seiyuu as well (looks like new production company with brand new seiyuu).
Yosuga no Sora
It’s from a galge/eroge/visual novel. Something you could guess how the story would be gonna be. Some people might like this while others might not. Because the theme is incest. Not only that, twins. For those who are pervert enough, there’s a wincest within twincest. The twins decided to go back to the town where once their grandparents lived as their parents died in an accident. The brother, Haruka (Shimono Hiro), seems to be taking care of his sister a lot. The sister, Sora (Taguchi Hiroko), tends to be kind of rude but deep inside loves her brother so much (typical tsundere but her tsun tsun is considered mild). Haru (well, it seems that most people calling him that way) met a lot of people around the town that he suddenly starting to recognize them back a bit by bit. Typical but somehow the characters are kinda cute. Might be watching this weekly.
Hmm, I think that’s all. Yeah, there’s Star Driver and Super Robot Wars OG but I don’t seem to be interested with mecha. I do like Excellen in SRW but she sounded like an obaa-san already. I think I am forgetting something… hmmm… oh yeah, Index 2. Might be watching that after the series ends…. I kept saying that despite I haven’t watch Railgun yet.
