Comrades

I just watched this Korean Drama called Comrades a.k.a. The Legend of Patriots. I am not really a fan of Korean stuffs but I am a fan of war movies. Historical is fine too. Comrades is about the Korean War, the war between North and South Korea, that technically still going on right now since they’re only signing a ceased fire agreement in 1953 and not a peace treaty. Centered around Lee Hyun Joong (Choi Soo Jong), a First Class Sergeant who commanded his squad, who went through many occasions from battles, covert mission, infiltration, POW plus escaping from enemy prison which later being detained by South Korean anti-communist organization only to be in another hell of mental tortures by their own side. A nice comfy chat with Ceui and Shimokawa Mikuni

Ceui and Shimokawa Mikuni

Ceui and Shimokawa Mikuni

Well, not really that comfortable since we didn’t get any kind of refreshments, at least a cup of coffee (I don’t mind sharing with them), from the organizers of Comic Fiesta so that we might have longer time of conversation with these two singers from Japan. Ceui (pronounced ‘say-ee’) and Shimokawa Mikuni (pronounced … ah never mind) are amazing artists who made appearance in this year’s Comic Fiesta in Kuala Lumpur Convention Center. Having their first time in Malaysia, it’s surely a rather new experience for them. We at Anime Shrine were glad to be given some room to meet them in-person just after their stage performance. Comic Fiesta 2011 : Ever After

Comic Fiesta 2011

Comic Fiesta 2011

17th and 18th December. It’s that time again as the prestigious yearly event of Comic Fiesta being held. This time, Kuala Lumpur Convention Center. A better place for all as it’s the biggest place than all previous venues in previous years. Compared to the last year’s event that being held at the Ballroom in Berjaya Times Square Hotel, the Hall 5 of the convention center is slightly bigger by 50 percent. Plus, it’s a perfect place for a large gathering of people since, well, it’s KLCC. Apart from the meaning of it being the convention center, it’s also meant for KL City Center which is just a few meters away from the tallest twin towers in the world. Yeah, better transportation like trains and also a lot of parking areas. Continue reading

Thoughts on C&C Generals 2

After the big company of Electronic Arts destroyed the fanbase of Command & Conquer by acquiring Westwood Studios under their wing, it wasn’t really a big deal for me. Because I pretty much liked Tiberium Wars and Red Alert 3 as well as their expansions. Although, the doesn’t-give-a-shit-as-long-as-the-game-is-okay attitude was totally diminished to none through the fourth title of Tiberian Twilight. It’s also one of the reasons why I quit gaming. Yet, the idea of quitting the gaming habit was failed because my friends love me to play games. But I have to admit that I only play very limited games and I haven’t boot up my PS3 for months. It’s the year 2100

In less than 90 years, we will be looking at the future. The future of 22nd century. Well, not really. Since Wikipedia says that 22nd century will only begin at January 1, 2101. However, it’s pretty interesting to predict how the future would be. Well, prediction is not easy considering how volatile the the history is. While I am pretty much influenced by George Friedman’s The Next 100 Years, it’s true that within 20 years of 20th century, a lot of things happened which people who lived in the year 1900 didn’t expect such thing may happen in their future.

Political Thoughts on Current Situation

The General Election is getting near. Easy to spot when you heard the drums of war on television and newspapers by the ruling government. From a glance, their spirits look very high and blatantly accusing the oppositions which if the oppositions did that, they will be accused of being rude, a pact of evil and unnationalists. But how about the situation now actually? This is just some insights. Things written here are based on my understanding. Comments are welcome.

UMNO is very strong at the moment. Not the whole BN divisions though. But the unity among Malays for UMNO is strengthening. So do the Indians for MIC. While MCA still struggling with their Chinese supports. The Oppositions’ Pakatan looked pretty much disorganized as credits go to PKR which losing general supports due to internal matters like leadership. DAP, however, is still going strong in gaining urban supporters and carefully managed things pretty well despite the lack of monetary funds. Since the past general election, let’s see how things went and going on up until now. Continue reading

Malaysian Cosplay

As we all know, cosplay is from “costume play” which means, well, I think you get the idea. My experiences with the local cosplayers might be not that much. Simply, this is just a random review on the current kids trend, a niche trend, and yet still growing.

Annie, my first ever cosplayer who I got to know along with Momo

Annie, my first ever cosplayer who I got to know along with Momo

I am not really sure when the fandom of cosplaying in Malaysia started. If not because of Gempak magazine more than a decade ago, I wouldn’t know much about it. Wait, I think I knew about cosplay through the Internet anyway, long time before that. For sure, it gave little internet to me back then. Because I am a picky guy who was not interested with the combination of 2D and 3D.  Continue reading

Animangaki 2011

Took me awhile to write this because I got caught up with other stuffs. Especially some rage stuffs. Hey, it’s already more than two weeks, so, yeah, not really that late. Again, the anime event was held at the same place as last year which was the Multi Purpose Hall of Sunway University College.

Band Pass

Band Pass

This event was the day marked as my first ever performance as a guitarist for Bad Apples. Thinking back, it’s almost 9 months I bought my Telecaster which I learn to play mostly by myself and also with the help of my friends especially Eccentrical and Brian. Nine months seemed long but I didn’t take any proper class so it’s something neat to brag on but musical skill is something largely related with practice, practice and practice. Continue reading
