Huh, basically I am not sure where should I begin. Perhaps I should make separate blog posts about different things. Then again, I am kinda lazy to do that. What a hassle. But if I put everything in a single post, that would be a long post. Though if I really make separate posts, each post might filled with details and more words. Eventually, I can make all of that in a single post which might produce a much much more longer post. But I don’t think that would be a wise move to do so. On a second thought, why not? Most of the blog readers are keen to waste their times over the net through reading irrelevant materials especially regarding to their works. Haha, anyway, just let me pick some prominent things to tell guys about. Start off with GACC.
Stands for ‘Games, Anime, Comic Circles’, this event was held in MMU, Melaka, on 20th and 21st of March. A 2-day event. While the event was already known for years, this was my first time there. Certainly because I was not fond of anime events in previous years and Melaka isn’t that near. Well, not really that far actually. They said that the event was the Last GACC. So, why not I go there? I attended the event only on Sunday though.
More importantly, my presence there was actually for my band since we have a performance there on Sunday. No, I am not playing any instrument as I don’t know any. I am somewhat the vocalist of the band for male songs (although I am pretty confident on making my voice like a girl) along with Natsu who is the female vocalist. The band name is Bad Apples, heavily influenced by Bad Apple song of Alstroemeria with additional plural there. But we didn’t perform that super hard song tho. The members apart from vocalists are Eccentrical (lead guitarist), Misao (rhythm guitarist), myclamyra (bassist), Chiaki (drummer), Noir (keyboard) and Saru-chan (backup bassist). The group has performed 6 songs on the day starting with God Knows (Suzumiya Haruhi), Yasashii Uso (Chrome Shelled Regios), Kimi ni Todoke (Kimi ni Todoke), Lost My Music (Suzumiya Haruhi), Tsubasa wo Kudasai (Evangelion) and Sobakasu (Rurouni Kenshin). My parts were Yasashii Uso (duet) and Kimi ni Todoke. Natsu was performing on 5 songs and for the Tsubasa wo Kudasai, we had Ice Cream as guest singer.

From top-left, clockwise: myclamyra, Natsu, Eccentrical, Noir, Chiaki, me and Saru-chan. Misao was missing at the time of group photo.

As we were given the short time earlier, the settings were not good enough. Most of the time, vocalists were having their hard time to give their best as the instruments volume seemed to be too high. On a funny note for the video of Kimi ni Todoke above, the ‘cameraman’ sang along with us. The reason why Eccentrical being additional vocal was due to the sound of vocals earlier. Being a band that was 3 week old (before GACC) this is somewhat good enough. Of course there are a lot of things needed to be improvised. For the GACC event itself, the crowds were many. The emcees were great and funny especially the cosplayer competition part. Though there was a lack of booth and the main problematic thing was the schedule. Amazingly, the tentative was not even released to the public on the day itself. They simply announced the events through those emcees. Being the so-called ‘Last GACC’ that was uncool. But from what I heard, they’re having a lot of hard time with the management of MMU themselves. Oh well… and yeah, I forgot to take a picture of Ice Cream on that day. Silly me. Moving on.
I would like to announce here that I quit gaming.
That statement itself pretty much shocked most of my friends. Especially when I put up a list of all PS3 games that I have for sale (so far only one sold). There are many reasons leading to this. Frankly speaking, it’s not because of I am busy with workloads, assignments or projects. Heck, even if I am busy with ‘real life’ matters, I might even have an hour or two a day for gaming. At least on weekends. But the main agenda is that today’s games are suck. While that’s not entirely true to certain extent, it is proper to say that there are less entertaining games. Games nowadays tend to go for realism and graphical. Not really a bad in some aspect but gameplay has been reduced to secondary matter. There are many FPS games on PC platform since such games are better by using a combination of W + Left Mouse Button. FPS on consoles is sucky like hell. Not really sure why some Xbox-fags being pussies for such games on their beloved console. It’s a trend to have FPS and strategy games to be developed for PC while actions and other genre of games being made just for consoles. Innovation is less too. Unless if you’re superbly happy to swing a dildo like hell over a game console for some actions. It is true that after years of gaming, we demand more. As games being too realistic, it becomes boring. For a new game to copy other games’ method for own good, there’s nothing new. As governments and societies getting close to pay more attention over games, many rulings and limitations were applied to games like you cannot kill animals, kids, no killing niggers, no sexual things, etc. It is true that gaming industry has surpassed that of Hollywood movies in terms of worldwide selling. Like that of Modern Warfare 2. The happy times of gaming have been close-guarded by capitalists and conglomerates just like any other entertainments.
Let me give an example, Command and Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight.
This is one of the main reasons I quit gaming. Being a fan of C&C series since the first game, the 4th game would be the last of the series. Yes, the last of the series (pun intended). Electronic Arts Los Angeles is filled with genius people who liked the idea of changing the whole historical gameplay of C&C into something else. Something else that actually a gameplay copied from other games. I am not disliking the gameplay actually. But thing that make me sad is that it’s no longer the C&C that I knew anymore. C&C1 was great, being the predecessor of all. Tiberian Sun was decent as the gameplay kinda defensive. Tiberium Wars was great to me, at least. Introduction of third faction was good. While fanatics of other games like Starcraft might telling us something about balancing and shits but I like the idea of eliminating your opponent in mere 10 minutes with proper tactics. But Tiberian Twilight was totally different. You no longer required to harvest green or blue tibs for income. You no longer required to build buildings for your base. Just a mobile HQ called ‘Crawler’ that you can choose through 3 different branches like that of Company of Heroes. Units are free except that they have population limits. The idea was cool. Since the Earth is almost inhabitable, there’s no longer required to build bases anymore. Scrap that but why the need of changing the most beloved gameplay of C&C? I don’t really mind about the FMVs inside the game. Because C&C series were like that. But the story was bad that I almost vomited blood through my eyes. Let me give you a spoiler; in C&C3, GDI tried to destroy the Scrin Tower because Nod wanted to use for ‘Ascension’. In C&C4, GDI were defending the tower to prevent Nod from making the ascension. How cool was that for a story? Perfect move by EALA to make me quit gaming for good.
Apart from these shits I said, there’s another thing that made me do such thing. Somewhat personal and kinda related a little bit to GACC event… well, it’s not related to the event itself at all but certain someone on that event. Up until a point where I lose myself to a degree where I temporarily quit Internet like linkinstreet did when he emo-ed. But I didn’t delete my Facebook account like he did. Plus it’s only took me a couple of days before I really made a return to the Internet (actually, I was somewhat OK on the next day but simply refused to get online for a couple of days). I am sorry those who tried to contact me especially linkin as I didn’t have the mood to talk to other people. Yeah, I didn’t even reply to SMSes to me those days. Haha.
Look back at what I wrote just now, please don’t mistaken me that I blamed GACC for some shitstorm. But I won’t say much here because if I do, that someone might be reading this although the probability of she actually reading this is low. And, hey, the word count of this post has passed 1500 mark and I am not done yet. Well, try to guest what I did during my emotional days? Hint: Bamboo Fun.
At first, I was drawing Aster, a cosplayer. For GACC, she was cosplaying as Ushio. For some reason I liked the cosplay. Truly, it’s kinda easy for me to draw. But for me, it’s still not that good. There’s something missing there but I am not sure. Took me like 5 hours or so. Though, for the second drawing, it took me about 9 hours. Because there were a lot of linings. The clothes have many things needed to be drawn. For both drawings, I had to play around with the shading. As much as they turned out to be somewhat good, there are still more things that can make them look better. Basically, these are just like tracing images but instead of vector tracing like what I always do, this is something new to me. If you have anything to point out, just do so by giving comments below.
… I haven’t sleep yet from last night’s drawing. Perhaps my mind refused to understand the meaning of rest…
